Full Moon Hike - The best way to end a weekend
26th January 2016, Oda Eiken
On Sunday 24th of January nineteen Afrofitters drove in a convoy to Mhakwe Hill in Domoboshava to enjoy the beautiful sunset and to see the moon rise.
- Are you guys ready to get Afrofit?, Wesley Maraire, the group leader, shouted just before we started the hike, getting everyone ready for the steep hill. Domboshava is a thirty-minute drive from Borrowdale, which makes it a great location for any weekend escape.
We watched the sunset as we climbed the hill, and the addition award was the 360view of Domboshava at the top, combined with sundowners. Two former students from the school nearby (Visitation High School) guided us up the hill to make sure we did not lose anyone on the way.
Everyone was happy to reach the top in order to rest, but our mission did not stop there. Our ever so energetic instructor TJ got everybody moving again with a ten minute AfroFit session, getting the heartbeat going even faster for the nineteen hikers.
In the end, it was a great trip and everybody enjoyed the scenic view of Domboshava. And the cherry on the top was of course the rising of the bright and magnificent moon as we walked down.. Thanks to everyone who came. We hope to see you and many more for the next AfroFit Hike!
